Sunday Feb 24, 2019
Sunday Feb 24, 2019
In this episode we talk at length about the music of Keith Jarrett and his philosophies behind the creative process. We discuss a few aspects of The Fourth Way, a philosophy developed by George Gurdjieff, which had a large influence on Jarrett. We also quote extensively from the book The Psychology of Mans Possible Evolution by Peter Ouspensky (a student of Gurdjieffs) to help understand what thought processes Jarrett uses to make his music. Keith Jarrett is one of the greatest musicians of the recorded era and this episode pays homage to his legacy.

Andrew Lake Does Time Travel – Civilization 2618 | Andrew Lake Podcast #050
Tuesday Dec 04, 2018
Tuesday Dec 04, 2018
In this special edition of the Andrew Lake Podcast, Andrew shares his personal experiences with Time Travel, going 600 years into the future. How this expedition was organised, how Time Travel works, where he went, what he found, what it’s like to Time Travel and many other questions are answered from a firsthand point of view. Andrew shares his feelings around ‘paradigm shock’ and what it’s like to see another world. This is an intimate and vulnerable episode for Andrew as Time Travel is a highly emotional event – some things are too large for the human mind to comprehend.
Where has technology taken humanity in the last 600 years? How has culture and our cohesive social institutions changed? Economics, family, automation, Artificial Intelligence, entertainment and a full range of human experiences are all discussed in detail. The question of whether or not climate change and nuclear war have any part to play in the future of our species is also answered. Some of the issues addressed are too difficult for Andrew to speak about without becoming emotional. Time Travel is an extraordinary once in a lifetime opportunity that happened to a simple nobody, who in this episode, shares everything.
We will be taking submissions for a Q&A follow-up episode if there is enough interest.

You Only Think Five Things - Jean Gebser | Andrew Lake Podcast #001
Thursday Oct 18, 2018
Thursday Oct 18, 2018
In this episode we discuss Jean Gebser and the waves of psychological development that all humans progress through. We give clear descriptions of the Archaic, Magic, Mythic, Rational, Pluralistic and Integral methods of thought and give instruction on how to identify each one. Each wave exists for its own purpose and has its own mode of operation. A deeper understanding of these methods of thought leads to a more wholistic perspective and richness in understanding. This psychological system is one of the components of Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory.
Archaic – The background source of all reality
Magic – One dimensional and mystical explanations of reality
Mythic – Narrative and poetic processes of thought
Rational – The thesis, antithesis and synthesis method of inquiry
Pluralistic – Many perspectives at once and complex comparisons
Integral – All perspectives and the ability to navigate with all preceding levels of development
